Throughout the process of creating this parody song, I better learned how to use Pro Tools and pushed myself to do things outside my comfort zone. I found that removing vocals from a song is a lot harder than I thought it would be, but through this challenge I learned to better understand how to use plug-ins like equalization. I also had a lot of fun adding in sound effects to the short dialogue at the end to make it feel more real.
The theme of this song was (maybe quite obviously) inspired by the dumb things Republicans/conservatives often say. We thought it would be funny to have verses about different stereotypes within this group, such as alpha males and Karens, and the song Bicycle Race by Queen seemed like a good fit for this topic since it's pretty fast paced. Creating a song like this was definitely outside of what I am comfortable with, but I found that by working with my friends I was able to turn something scary into something much more fun!
